This is fascinating, Les Bácsi! Very confusing, but wonderful.
In all events, we are connected by heartstrings – and sometimes, that affiliation supersedes biological ties. :)

WE LOVE YOU!! <3

Hi Gabriella,

You might find the email strand below, from last May, mind-bendingly interesting.
At the time, I might have thought it too confusing to forward to you ???

As you know, Rose Klein, who lives with my mother, Sara and Laci bacsi in Brooklyn, is the 3rd Kuttner sister.
Her son, is Michael Klein in Los Angeles, and Edith Klein is his wife.
One of their 3 sons is Reuven Klein. He is a published rabbi and an avid genealogist.

Apparently, through Reuven's mother, Edith Klein (the wife of my cousin, Michael)
there is a bloodline connecting to Miklos Gafni.

Reuven Chaim (who lives in Israel, with a wife and 3 kids of his own) is well aware of your Dad's name, from his father (Michael)
who remembers Miki bacsi visiting our Passover seder table and regaling the family with songs and fantastic stories. Michael also reminds us, below, that Miki was a guest at his wedding.

Talk to Reuven.
Family Tree facts can change your knowledge.
Barany/Blau are not related, but through Edith Kleini, the Kleins, apparently, however distantly.

That is very interesting because during Passover we were looking over my mothers wedding album and we saw him there at the wedding.

Re: The JewishGen Family Finder: Eckstein

Truth is that I don't have much information about the Eckstein part of my family, so I can't assess whether or not we might have a connection. All I know about my Ecksteins is that they are descendants of the Noam Elimelech. Are yours?

Hello Reuven Chaim,

I wrote to you in October about possible common Lampl family members, from Jelka, originally Joka in Hungary. As I don't seem to have received your reply, and since then I have found additional links, I thought I would write to you again.

They are Ignatz Lampl married Johana Reisner, Simon Lampl M Julia Reisner, with each having large families. I have 44 Lampl's in my Geni Family Tree, and still searching.

I hope we have a match. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes,

Tom Reisner (From Melbourne Australia)

Dear Reuven,

I noticed you are researching the Lampl family from Jelka. My ancestor Juli Reisner married Jakob Lampl (date unknown) and they had eight children in late 1840's to early 1860's.

I hope we have a match. I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Buried next to my father

You asked me about this back in July. It says he was a grandson of the Shenos Chaim, but I'm pretty sure it's לאו דוקא. The Shenos Chaim was my great-great-great-grandfather and he didn't have any sons named Chaim Yerucham (although he had a son named Yerucham), so this person Naftali Simcha KLEIN is a descendant of my ggg-grandfather, but I don't know anything more about him.

Re: Happy New Year

Dear Avio,
There isn't enough information to know if there is a connection between the families. But it should be easy to figure out because the last name KLEIN was adopted by the Shenos Chaim (our great-great-great-grandfather), so if they are related to us they can't be too many generations away. Could you find out more information about Mr. Weiss' mother, like her parents' name and her father's parents' name. Please keep in mind that about half of the population of the town of Munkatch was Jewish and KLEIN is a very very common Jewish last name in Hungary.

Re: The JewishGen Family Finder:

Klein is a very popular last name, what makes you think there might be a connection?
Our KLEIN family are descendants of Rabbi Reuven Chaim Klein, author of Shenos Chaim who was a Rabbi in a city called Davidkoff or Davidhaz (in Ukraine, near Munkatch). The last name KLEIN originated with him because when he was studying in the Chasam Sofer's Yeshiva in Pressburg, he boarded with a childless family named KLEIN and he adopted their last name. Incidentally, he was buried in Vienna because he ended up there for treatments at the end of his life.

Hello,

My name is Steve Klein.  I am wondering if my Great Great Grandfather Rabbi Alimelach Klein who settled in NY could be connected to your Klein's.  I have a town called Pucha listed in the naturalization record of one of his sons as to where he was born as well as Vienna being listed for his son.  Alimelach is just listed as Austria.  I can be reached at Latteda22@gmail.com.

Regards,
